Dr. Morrison has been a psychiatrist in private practice in Naperville since 1992. She is the co-founder of Healthy4Life. Dr. Morrison received her undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago and her medical degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She completed her internship in Internal Medicine and her residency in Psychiatry at Rush Medical Center in Chicago. Dr. Morrison is board certified in Psychiatry and Obesity Medicine and is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Morrison is honored to have been named a “Top Doctor” in her field by the Castle Connolly/Chicago Magazine survey of physicians for over 10 years. She is a member of the Obesity Medicine Association.

Dr. Morrison became interested in obesity medicine several years ago through seeing the reciprocal effect of weight and depression. In her practice, she explored options for utilizing more weight neutral medications or finding other treatments to minimize the effect of weight on her patients. She is pleased that the medical field is recognizing obesity as a chronic medical condition that requires treatment vs a failing of character or willpower. Just as Psychiatry was entering a new frontier when she began her practice, Dr. Morrison sees the rapid evolution in treatments in obesity medicine as providing new hope for her patients.

Personally, Dr. Morrison was a serial enroller in Weight Watchers, which was helpful in improving nutrition and providing support. But the weight always came back and the set point seemed to become higher and higher. As she approached an age where she had seen people in her family die of medical conditions affected by weight, she knew she had to make a decision and do something different. Only then did she realize how difficult it was to figure out what that something was. We have all heard eat less and move more, but that does not work. Dr. Morrison began extensive reading to understand the disease of obesity and why it is that people who lose weight regain it. She has participated in conferences and continuing medical education in the field of obesity medicine. She began to work with her own physician and address nutrition. Psychiatry is a sedentary job, so increasing physical activity both in terms of exercise and increasing daily movement became a priority. Having experienced significant weight loss and the consequent improvements in health, Dr. Morrison looks forward to helping design an individualized program that will help you regain hope and maintain weight loss on your journey to Healthy4Life.

Dr. Lisa Pinto is the co-founder of Healthy4Life. Dr. Pinto is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with over 30 years of clinical experience. She is a member of the Obesity Medical Association.

Several years ago, Dr. Pinto felt that she had hit a wall with her health. She knew she needed to make drastic changes or the premorbid conditions she was experiencing were going to become no turning back medical conditions. She began to work with medical and behavioral specialists, joined a gym and started working with her diet. Dr. Pinto came to understand that a combination of approaches is necessary in order to get long term success and changes. After achieving significant weight loss and reversing her comorbid conditions, Dr. Pinto was determined to learn all she could about obesity medicine. She has committed herself to a broad, intensive study of obesity medicine with participation in conferences and other continuing education. As an experienced clinical psychologist, she is particularly knowledgeable about the behavioral obstacles and patterns that reinforce lifestyles which deteriorate into poor health. On a personal level, Dr. Pinto has lived the fear of not being able to fit in to a booth at a restaurant or an airplane seat. She knows what it is like to be unable to keep up with others in physical activities, like walking a city block with friends. She understands the dread of having your picture taken and how this results in losing memories because you are either not in the picture or the photo reflects the pain of feeling you have to hide behind someone or something else. Dr. Pinto is passionate about making this path more accessible for anyone who has made the decision to change. She looks forward to helping you on your journey to Healthy4Life.
